I wonder why you wondered about the beat in the chorus. It’s a super common/cliché beat trough out 60s soul, pop & rock music. It’s synonymous with this era. …(and much less of a punk beat in my opinion).

You forgot to mention that this song also has one of the most perfect (flute) solos in history of pop. It’s a hit in it self! No, really, I bow my head. This tune is near flawless.

Taylor’s one note melodies have confounded me years. Every time I’m in an uber and a song of hers comes on I have to wonder what happened to pop music melodies. Looking back even Backstreet Boys did it better. Welcome to New York is a prime example of rhythm, lyrics and melody seemingly generated by Frankenstein’s monster.

listen to this advice if you want to make popular but boring music for people who don't really care about it. If you want to make good music and be creative, stay far away from this sort of advice. You might not make as much money, but your music will be much better.

You talk about Radiohead as if they are only concerned with rather than writing because they love music. They change style constantly because creativity is more important to them than popularity. Nice surface level analysis.

This video is so helpful! It reaffirms a lotof the things I've noticed about her music and Finneas' production style but you explained everything in such a clear way that it really locked everything in for me. Love this type of content! Great work!

I've read in more than one place that both Bob Dylan and John Lennon used to write lyrics first. I'm trying to do that, too. I hate when in a song you can tell they added something unnecessary lyrically just to fit the metric.

Besides this awesome advice, I have also learned self acceptance. As an autist, I just learned to accept that maybe I will come across as weird many times, and that's ok, I will control what I can control and give my best and what I can't... then just to accept. People always ask me if I'm high, it used to bother me before, now I accept that this is gonna be that way.

Cobain was more musically gifted than most. He understood music, not in the traditional theoretical sense though. Look at Rick Beatos "What makes this song great" and you'll know that Cobain had a feeling for music. A couple of million albums sold and some would agree.

Give me a fucking break Swiftie lightweights! Everything she writes is in a major key, she has likely never written anything more than 3 part harmony, over half of her songs have the same exact tempo, she has written at least 5 songs with the same tired I-V-vi-IV progression that was invented a 100 fucking years ago. All bubble gum pop bullshit that was invented back in the 1960's. The only thing that matters is being a "superstar" lead singer that looks teenage or young twenties and NOTHING THE FUCK ELSE matters! No wonder the US is going down the toilet because these stupid fuck Swifties vote for Joe Biden and the Democrats all the fucking time......

Danke!

I don't think Tool or any of their music or lyrics are any better than any other metal or alternative or Progressive band that has been out there. [ trust me I was quite the obsessed tool fan up until 10,000 Days] I also don't think they're any better just because they use math to compose their music. Various Scholars and theologians have pointed out the fact that Pythagoras and many others were using math to compose their music. Yes tool has many lyrics related to Alchemy, the occult, the esoteric, the metaphysical, the Hermetic teachings ( trust me I was obsessed with that kind of stuff for quite a while most of my late teens and most of my twenties) Although I will give them credit where credit is due, they have achieved many great things not just the Grammys but influencing a wide variety of people. Fear inoculum was kind of a disappointment not only for me but quite a few other people who are Skeptics/critics like me. But who knows I'm still on the fence with fear inoculum and how I feel about its lyrics, and music.

We clearly went heavy towards the “ big macho “ stereotype here. They have beautiful harmonies on some of their best songs and seemed to purposely turn away here to stick to the point that was tried to get across . They have some literal classical harmonies and lovely tracks. What you would call “ female “ .

I have watched this before, but I just listened to this channel - Video Editor Reacts - today [April 3, 2024] and decided to look back at some old reactions/analyses I've watched. I'm only a 70 yr. old listener so not an expert on anything excepting listening ... and appreciating music (with a discerning ear and taste). Billie heard crosswalk beeps in Sydney, Australia and incorporated them into 'Bad Guy" - they are what some people think are the high hats. For 'Bury A Friend", while she was in the chair having her invisaline shaved she recorded the sounds [there's a a video of her doing this] and this dentist's drill is a part of that song (Bury A Friend) . On Feb. 3, 2020 on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, "Finneas Reveals Everyday Sounds Hidden In "Bury A Friend" and "Bad Guy" - for the record, it was Billie who heard and recorded these sounds. Also, FINNEAS, her brother is her sole producer - they co-write songs and he produces everything alone, with more input from Billie now. If you had time to burn you could go to the Rolling Stone channel and watch - from Dec. 16, 2019, 2 days before her 18th B.D. - "Billie Eilish and Finneas Break Down Her Hit Song Bad Guy".

I don't think you got the time signatures right , and I don't think what makes the song is the use of motif and using polymeter to mix the parts artistically that odd time that lines of with 4/4 directly or indirectly
